Canadian Voices - PodCasting

Would you like to have updates of Canadian Voices programmes delivered to your computer or media player as they become available? Then you would like to subscribe to the Canadian Voices podcast.

Subscribing to the Canadian Voices podcast means that your podcast program (we strongly recommend iTunes for the job) automatically downloads the latest episode of our show to your computer as an MP3 file. Exactly when it does that depends on how you've configured your podcast program's settings. Once you have the MP3, you can listen to it even when you're not online. You can also pop the file onto an iPod or other portable MP3 player and take it with you anywhere you go.

You need to install a podcast program on your computer, tell it about a podcast feed you want to subscribe to, and it will check to see when new information is available. When a new show is uploaded to the web site, the podcasting software will start downloading the MP3 file in the background to a directory.

To get started, you will need to install a podcasting program, a number of which are freely available for Mac, Windows, and Linux.

iTunes (Freeware: Windows, Mac). This is Apple's flagship music-playing program, which, starting with version 4.9, has support for receiving podcasts. Note that even though you go through the "music store" to find podcast feeds, there is, as always, no charge for receiving Canadian Voices! iTunes has been very helpful with promoting Canadian Voices.

Once you have downloaded and installed a podcast program, you will need to add the Canadian Voices podcast feed. You can right-click the following link and select "copy link location". Paste the information into the subscription field of your Podcast software.

If you simply click the following link, it will go directly to the XML file. You will see the raw XML code in your browser window. Don't be frightened! Simply copy the URL information in your browser's address bar, and paste the information into the subscription field of your Podcast software.
